8. baby buggy . passeggino

'Wearing' plaster and crutches labels a person as belonging to a weak category. People mainly treat you as if you were pulling a baby buggy, they stop you even if you don't know them, they're kind and worrisome, let you sit at their place, offer to carry things for you; perfect strangers become as careful as Yiddish mothers and want to know what happened, how old is your plaster, is it painful, what's its name, does it sleep at night etc. etc. Even some unknown neighbours that haven't even yelled an hello in four years, now actually see me and ask if I need help. I'd better not to get used to it...in eight days I'll be as transparent as before. Hopefully.

'Indossare' gesso e stampelle etichetta come appartenenti ad una categoria protetta. La gente tendenzialmente ti tratta come se stessi spingendo un passeggino, ti ferma anche se non ti conosce; le persone sono gentili e preoccupate, ti lasciano sedere al loro posto, si offrono di portarti le cose; perfetti estranei diventano premurosi come una mamma Yiddish e vogliono sapere che cosa sia successo, quanto abbia il mio gesso, se sia doloroso, come si chiami, se dorma di notte etc. etc. Addirittura qualche sconosciuto vicino di casa che non mi ha nemmeno mai urlato un ciao in quattro anni, adesso effettivamente mi vede e mi chiede se mi serva aiuto. Meglio non abituarsi ... tra otto giorni tornerò trasparente come prima. Si spera.
